Psalm 145:3-5
King James Version
3 Great is the Lord,
and greatly to be praised;
and his greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise thy works to another,
and shall declare thy mighty acts.
5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty,
and of thy wondrous works.
Do you think it's possible to outwit God?
To find Him sleeping?
Surely, you don't think so.
Satan tried.
Knowing Jesus was tired, and hungry, after 40 days, and 40 nights of fasting in the wilderness, he tried tempting the Lord.
Of course, Spirit allowed it.
Matthew 4:1
King James Version
4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit
into the wilderness
to be tempted of the devil.
But Jesus knew what mattered most.
Matthew 4:4
King James Version
4 But he answered and said,
It is written,
Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word
that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God.
Just so you know, the proud, but fallen cherub, knows Scripture, too.
Matthew 4:6
King James Version
6 And saith unto him,
If thou be the Son of God,
cast thyself down:
for it is written,
He shall give his angels charge concerning thee:
and in their hands they shall bear thee up,
lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
But Jesus IS Scripture.
He is the WORD of GOD.
Look how the Lord answered.
Matthew 4:7
King James Version
7 Jesus said unto him,
It is written again,
Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
In Scripture, the devil is depicted as various princes, at various times.
But that's for another story.
But this verse testifies of how these princes thought they had outwitted, humiliated, and defeated the Lord.
They had men crucify Jesus.
What they didn't know was the mystery of God.
1 Corinthians 2:7-8
King James Version
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery,
even the hidden wisdom,
which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew:
for had they known it,
they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
What satan was not privy to -- for why would he -- is that the crucifixion was for God's perfect purpose.
Hebrews 2:14
King James Version
14 Forasmuch then as the children
are partakers of flesh and blood,
he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him
that had the power of death,
that is, the devil;
The tempter, thinking he had broken the Lord's body, and spirit, didn't care when Jesus declared, as He was nailed on the cross:
John 19:28
King James Version
28 After this,
Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished,
that the scripture might be fulfilled,
saith,
I thirst.
He surely gloated when the soldiers cruelly gave the Lord anything but water.
John 19:29
King James Version
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar:
and they filled a spunge with vinegar,
and put it upon hyssop,
and put it to his mouth.
The deceiver had no inkling of God's greater plan, even when Jesus gave up the ghost.
Take note of the Lord's last words.
John 19:30
King James Version
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar,
he said,
It is finished:
and he bowed his head,
and gave up the ghost.
"It is finished."
What was finished?
The devil was finished.
But do you think the fallen one accepted defeat?
Nope.
He went on a rampage.
Revelation 12:12
King James Version
12 Therefore rejoice,
ye heavens,
and ye that dwell in them.
Woe to the inhabiters of the earth
and of the sea!
for the devil is come down unto you,
having great wrath,
because he knoweth
that he hath but a short time.
You see, the devil's main fault was pride.
Isaiah 14:11-14
King James Version
11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave,
and the noise of thy viols:
the worm is spread under thee,
and the worms cover thee.
12 How art thou fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer,
son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart,
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,
in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be like the most High.
How a created cherub could be that delusional, only God knows.
Surely, knowing Scripture as he does, satan knows what's in store for him.
Revelation 20:1-3
King James Version
20 And I saw an angel come down from heaven,
having the key of the bottomless pit
and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon,
that old serpent,
which is the Devil,
and Satan,
and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit,
and shut him up,
and set a seal upon him,
that he should deceive the nations no more,
till the thousand years should be fulfilled:
and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Still, God allows him to roam, for a time.
But the Lord would not be denied His plan.
Evil must end.
Revelation 20:7-10
King James Version
7 And when the thousand years are expired,
Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations
which are in the four quarters of the earth,
Gog,
and Magog,
to gather them together to battle:
the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth,
and compassed the camp of the saints about,
and the beloved city:
and fire came down from God out of heaven,
and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them
was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,
where the beast and the false prophet are,
and shall be tormented day and night
for ever and ever.
For the faithful have suffered enough, and it's time to reward them.
Revelation 21:1-4
King James Version
21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth:
for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away;
and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city,
new Jerusalem,
coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying,
Behold,
the tabernacle of God is with men,
and he will dwell with them,
and they shall be his people,
and God himself shall be with them,
and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow,
nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away.
Who can outwit the Creator?
How can anyone even think that?
As a student of Spirit, and a warrior for the Lord, I do my diligent research.
He led me to read Scripture.
All have been prophesied.
Jesus remains victorious.
John 16:33
King James Version
33 These things I have spoken unto you,
that in me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation:
but be of good cheer;
I have overcome the world.
Find STRENGTH in Jesus.
Find TRUTH in Scripture.
Seek GOD with all your heart.
All good come from that seeking.
For the WORD is all that will remain.
